Shugs owner serving coffee to patrons

A Sweet Day for Shug’s Coffee

The Shug’s Grand Opening was a major success. ABC15 and FOX 10 and Phoenix New Times all showed up to help spread the word about Shug’s mission to support local school music programs. We had a constant stream of people coming into McDowell Market shopping for groceries and gifts. Palabras sold what seemed like a literal ton of books, and Shug’s was able to raise over $225 for Whittier Elementary School Music Program through coffee and drink sales! The Whittier teachers arrived in time to catch the news crew and do a shout out to their schools and to Shug’s for supporting their programs in an innovative way.

Seeing so many engaged and supportive people walk through the door with smiles on their faces made my heart soar. It gave me hope that businesses like Shug’s, that focus on giving back instead of making maximum profit, have a place in our community. Thank you everyone who came to our Grand Opening with your positive energy
and encouraging words. I look forward to serving you and nurturing our community one cup at a time for years to come!
